Betnovate Cream

Betnovate cream is a prescription-only steroid treatment used to treat symptoms like irritation and red flare-ups on skin experienced by those with eczema and psoriasis. A course of 7 to 10 days clears up the symptoms. GlaxoSmithKline manufactures Betnovate. It is available as a cream, lotion and ointment packed in 30g and 100g sizes. The cream is used on the body but not the scalp, where weaker treatment has been ineffective to clear eczema.

  • Betnovate Cream treats inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and contact dermatitis. It helps reduce redness, swelling, itching, and irritation during flare-ups.
  • Use a thin layer once or twice daily, exactly as directed by your doctor. As soon as your symptoms improve, reduce use or stop completely to avoid overuse.
  • Only use Betnovate on the face if your doctor advises it. The skin on the face is delicate and more prone to thinning from strong corticosteroids like Betnovate.
  • Most people see improvement within a few days. A typical course lasts 7–10 days. If symptoms don’t improve or worsen, speak to your GP.
  • Side effects are rare with short-term use. However, prolonged or excessive use may cause skin thinning, irritation, or discolouration. Always follow your healthcare provider’s instructions.
